The Condo lady and RBC came thru and I now haz a condo!Took a little time to get it all painted and stuff but the end effect is pretty good well i think so.
Took a while to get the crap I had in the old Appartment over here to Charlswood but with help from uncle U haul and a couple of mates done in a day. Problem was Marcel was moving too so we had to divide the work force.

Work was a little slow in Jan only did around 9,000 miles,got a few downloads on the truck ecm and the axle ratios changed 4 better fuel milage.
Got a service done by the Mississauga dudes as they way better than our Wpg shop

Been a while since I have blogged, various reasons which shall remain under the un official secrets act....
OK here we go again first the new ride.....

Now those of you in the know will notice from the unit number that its not a company truck number as they all start with 85
87777 thats the companys newest owner op (yours truly)and there newest freightshaker.

K after all the mods that needed to be added were added (tripack,toolbox,moosey bumper etc) my new travel agent (Nichole) gave me the flight plan, Mcdonalds fries from Portage to Springfield Ohio

At the Chip place I had an issue with the 5th wheel not wanting to go were I wanted it but the force won the battle and we were good on the weight side.

TA truckstop about 20kms from the customer, book was full so its fuel and shower for us both.
next day was an experiance as there was no water, so bathrooms were out of bounds....good job I only needed to brush the teeth.

I was waiting 4 a meat load in calgary when Sean (Top dispatch Gyru and only call if its burning dude) dailed my cell number and asked if I would do a 3 drop trip instead to The Big Apple ! meethinks why not its a shed full of miles ,3 drops and a bag of time 2 get there.so off I wander to high river to grab teh trl.
As allways at the famous meat plant the trl wasn't ready ! bang goes the plenty of time thing,at least I got to watch the wrestler on dvd.
next day bright and full of cornflakes hooked,scaled,and slipped of 2 sweetgrass 4 meat inspection.
All done,fueled in shelby (diesel for mighty mack and Kawfee 4 me)We headed along hwy 2 to bismark, dropped into fargo and on to the first drop in chicago.

Hi all

had a few things to sort out over the last few months, Winter is gone as are a few other things in my life,but got my head on straight again.......

Best I could find, .. the point is made:

Cecil my fleet manager has moved up and is running all the team bods now, me lutz,henk,and the other cool single slaves have got a new bod called Phil as travel agent,nice lad but he's still learning the ropes. Harry the hedgehog has also stopped playing team and is with Stu on his fleet ( 85465 if you wanna wave at the man)but he seems 2 be skiving off around the mid west triangle leaving yours truely (as top, cool, single driver) to keep the economy ticking over and to do all the work.
Things are not as fast as they were in the begining but at least we are getting enough miles to survive and, go figure its still a great job and coy.
Oh quick one I got the old PNP through so I'm Manitoba sponsored now WooHoo.
Mick was dribbling about a new job in teh office but I guess I'm best off on the road 4 now. thxs 4 teh offer

Been a while again but i been a busy little bee !! Its sping now woohoo,no more white stuff (touch wood)and the a team has split up.
Team was a great start for the both of us, dispite what various bods are saying on various forums,its hard work and u gotta trust your partner 100 pro or u aint getting any sleep,but it was worth it we both learned a lot.

G’day…
Once again ist been a while but this time I got a real excuse, after the Nogalis trip I decided to visit a Uhrmerican hospital in Idaho,this went very well and then flew back to the peg for further visits to establishments were doctors and nurses are present.
All is now well although a few bits have been removed from areas of my body,and the holes have healed. No bubbles there cept my stomach looks like used shotgun target.
Many thanks to the people who looked after me here, and to a person who cared when u need to be cared for, you know who you are.

Anyhoo back to the mehican thing

Loaded in a little place near Brandon called Neewapa, porky bits in boxes, tried to scale but the lumber yard was snowed in and their scale thingy was on the blink. The gauge was flickering around the 60 mark so for Canadur things should be ok.
Border X was Dunseth, were I got me Corned Beef confiscated due to it coming from Brazil!!

Incase its slipped you by Chrismas has arrived!!

As U can imagine a vital part of the festive season is the need to replenish teh Uhrmerican way of life with all the little goodies they need for Xmas.

Winter has the peg full in its little hands as a few photos will show

K.22nd Dec Scaled, slid and sent loaded and leaving, Border was Pembina again so no bubbles.... yet! Teh broker was awake this time,so the frozen hog bits were on time,and we got our back load to winnipeg.Now as drivers are a bit more respected here and 85386 neede some xmas fuel,the flying J in Fargo was the next port of call.(FREE xmas diner)Well all i can say is the fuel was ok.

Into the Peg again on th 25th drop and hook 4 calgary LTL,it was a bit of a funny feeling,everbody else is eating drinking and being merry,while yours truly is keeping the north american economy from falling apart,still beggers can't be choosers, so Calagary it is.
Droped and hooked in the yard down to the kill plant in brooks and hooked a trailer for Sioux falls.Cleared in sweetgrass and plodded on into Montana.

After a live unload at sioux falls,he travel agent felt sorry for me and decided I needed a little sun to brighten my day or days,so its off to Liberty on the kansas border,770 miles empeety

The Kill plant was in full blow but guess what no Trailer 4 little old me, so dropped the reefer and slid over 2 a hillbilly type truckstop called 'the chuckwagon'

Next day got hooked up and headed of to The french dudes in montreal crossing in Windsor with an Mcap.

Weather is now abooot 12deg+ so its window down and arm out time!

Got there,dropped and hooked ltl for Calgary but gotta drop it in the yard at Winnipeg,as Isa got days of booked,as i sorta bumble along in the snow minding my own and thinking nice thoughts towards winnipeg it occurs to me that something is up!

Well the White stuff has started,everybody says its not that bad yet and there is more to come.Shit its bad enough temps down to -30 ice and all sorts of crap all over the place,but its not the winter we know from europe,somehow the snow seems cleaner,dryer.

Hi everybody

The latest trip was a big one and a first for me.

Started at teh peg -14 cent !

This is the perimiter highway and the ice is pretty scary.

Anyhoo empty trl to winkler hook and drop,( had to shunt a canex trailer from the ramp and mess about in the yard there.)
got the papers faxed to the correct broker eventually, then its sunglasses on and bay watch here I come.

Border crossing was penbina and the scanner was down due to the weather LoL,guess the Uhmericans don't like to get cold!

As the snow in yellowstone was pretty bad with chain ups and all that crap the route i took went over denver up the I70 and on to Las Vagas

Some of the landscapes are amazing,K on through las Vagas (no time to stop and gamble,not my scene anyways)had no bubbles so no troubles and on to Oxnard,passing thru the outskirts of L.A.past funny streets like Hollywood Boooulivard,

Found the shipper pretty quick,booked in dropped the trailer and scooted of to loves truckstop for showers and scoff.
Next day it was like 20 deg warm and t shirt time.

This guy stopped aboot 5 kms later put his tent up and started to flog his stuff.The oranges were really good.

Got the Turbine bits of the reefer,talked to the travel agent on the qualcom,inspected rally macnally and of I went to load 5 picks(gooood money)veggies and fruit for sorbeys in calgary started in Huron c.a.then 4 more in Salinas c.a..
Met up with Frank from the H and R dudes at the salinas pilot who was also fueling and headed northbound.

Thats the last trip we accomplished,but before I go on a sad story!.
85442 is ill and has had to be recalled to Mack to have her things sorted. As I last saw her sitting in the yard in Mississuaga,
empty and alone I had a funny feeling as she was the first truck in Canadur.
Anyhu trans X flew Harry back to Winnipeg ( had to take him to Hospital in Toronto with a kidney stone,that is another story, Emergency Room is nothing compaired to that night.)
I had to work my passage back( with all our gear) as the new truck was in the Peg being detailed and getting its valves done.
Got a lift back with another english guy called mark,and it turned out that he was stationed in Germany near Bremen were I used to live.Needless to say the 2 days back to Winnipeg flew past.
Thanks Mark for the lift,getting all my crap in your truck and for the sausage banjos which were as the Canadians say Awsome !!!

The Battle of the Little Bighorn—also known as Custer's Last Stand, and, in the parlance of the relevant Native Americans, the Battle of the Greasy Grass—was an armed engagement between a Lakota-Northern Cheyenne combined force and the 7th Cavalry of the United States Army. It occurred on June 25 and June 26, 1876, near the Little Bighorn River in the eastern Montana Territory, near what is now Crow Agency, MT.

The battle was the most famous action of the Indian Wars, and was a remarkable victory for the Lakota and Northern Cheyenne, led by Sitting Bull. The U.S. Seventh Cavalry, including a column of 700 men led by George Armstrong Custer, was defeated. Five of the Seventh's companies were annihilated and Custer himself was killed as were two of his brothers and a brother-in-law.

It numbered 13 officers, 198 men (seven of whom would eventually be detached before the "last stand") and three civilians—newspaper reporter Mark Kellogg and two scouts. Troop C was commanded by Custer's brother, Capt. Thomas Custer and L Company by his brother-in-law, 1st Lt. James Calhoun.

An 1899 chromolithograph entitled Custer Massacre at Big Horn, Montana — June 25, 1876, artist unknown.By the time of Custer's expedition to the Black Hills in 1874, the level of conflict and tension between the U.S. and many plains Indians tribes (including the Lakota Sioux and the Cheyenne) had become exceedingly high. Indians killed settlers and railroad workers, Americans continually broke treaty agreements and advanced further westward. To take possession of the Black Hills (and thus the gold deposits), and to stop Indian attacks, the U.S. decided to corral all remaining free plains Indians. The Grant government set a deadline of January 31, 1876 for all Lakota and Northern Cheyenne to report to their designated agencies (reservations) or be considered "hostile".

The 7th Cavalry departed from Fort Lincoln on May 17, 1876, part of a larger army force planning to round up remaining free Indians. Meanwhile, in the spring and summer of 1876, the Hunkpapa Lakota chief Sitting Bull had called together the largest ever gathering of plains Indians at Ash Creek, Montana (later moved to the Little Bighorn River) to discuss what to do about the whites. It was this united encampment of Lakota, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho Indians that the 7th met at the Battle of the Little Bighorn.

On June 25, some of Custer's Crow Indian scouts identified what they claimed was a large Indian encampment along the Little Bighorn River. Custer divided his forces into three battalions: one led by Major Marcus Reno, one by Captain Frederick Benteen, and one by himself. Captain Thomas M. McDougall and Company B were with the pack train. Benteen was sent south and west, to cut off any attempted escape by the Indians, Reno was sent north to charge the southern end of the encampment, and Custer rode north, hidden to the east of the encampment by bluffs, and planning to circle around and attack from the north.

Reno began a charge on the southern end of the village, but halted midway and had his men dismount and form a skirmish line.They were soon overcome by mounted Lakota and Cheyenne warriors who counterattacked en masse against Reno's exposed left flank forcing Reno and his men to take cover in the trees along the river. Eventually, however, this position became untenable and the troopers were forced into a bloody retreat up onto the bluffs above the river, where they made their own stand. This, the opening action of the battle, cost Reno a quarter of his command.

Meanwhile, unaware of Reno's failure, Custer had his command to the northern end of the main encampment, where he apparently planned to sandwich the Indians between his attacking troopers and Reno's command in a "hammer-and-anvil" maneuver. According to Grinnell's account, based on the testimony of the Cheyenne warriors who survived the fight, at least part of Custer's command attempted to ford the river at the north end of the camp but were driven off by stiff resistance from the Indians and were pursued by hundreds of warriors onto a ridge north of the encampment. There, Custer was prevented from digging in by Crazy Horse, whose warriors had outflanked him and were now to his north, at the crest of the ridge.Traditional white accounts attribute to Gall the attack that drove Custer up onto the ridge, but Indian witnesses have disputed that account.[25] For a time, Custer's men were deployed by company, in standard cavalry fighting formation—the skirmish line, with every fourth man holding the horses. This arrangement, however, robbed Custer of a quarter of his firepower, and as the fight intensified, many soldiers took to holding their own horses or hobbling them, further reducing their effective fire. When Crazy Horse and White Bull mounted the charge that broke through the center of Custer's lines, pandemonium broke out among the men of Calhoun's command,though Keogh's men seem to have fought and died where they stood. Many of the panicking soldiers threw down their weapons and either rode or ran towards the knoll where Custer the other officers and about 40 men were making a stand. Along the way, the Indians rode them down, counting coup by whacking the fleeing troopers with their quirts or lances.

Initially, Custer had 208 officers and men under his command, with an additional 142 under Reno and just over a hundred under Benteen. The Indians fielded over 1800 warriors. As the troopers were cut down, the Indians stripped the dead of their firearms and ammunition, with the result that the return fire from the cavalry steadily decreased, while the fire from the Indians steadily increased. With Custer and the survivors shooting the remaining horses to use them as breastworks and making a final stand on the knoll at the north end of the ridge, the Indians closed in for the final attack and killed all in Custer's command. As a result, the Battle of the Little Bighorn has come to be popularly known as "Custer's Last Stand".

When the cavalry's main column did arrive three days later, they found most of the soldiers' corpses stripped, scalped, and mutilated.Custer’s body had two bullet holes, one in the left temple and one just above the heart.Following the recovery of Custer's body, he was given a funeral with full military honors and buried on the battlefield. He was reinterred in the West Point Cemetery on October 10, 1877. The battle site was designated a National Cemetery in 1876.

The exact number of Indian warriors participating in the battle has never been determined and remains controversial. It has been estimated that in the overall battle the warriors outnumbered the 7th Cavalry by approximately three to one, or roughly 1800 against 600. In Custer's fight, this ratio could have increased to as high as nine to one (1800 against 200) after his isolated command became the main focus of the fighting. Some historians, however, claim the ratio of the Custer fight to be as low as three to one. By almost all accounts, Custer's detachment was certainly outnumbered and was caught in the open on unfamiliar terrain.

Hi Everybody,
Sorry ist been a while since I posted again,but here I am and heres the latest updates.
Training is finished and both Harry and I have been given a brand new truck here she is 85442

As the most of you know Harry and I are driving team,this has been explained in many other Blogs,but I will explain the basics.

1.The truck doesn't stop except for fuel and load / unloads. thats it

the trip this time was, Windypeg, Edmonton, trailer swop, then 6 wally mart drops over night, ending in lyndon land, over to brooks ,trailer swop again after having the one washed then off to Waterloo in Iowa with beef.Meat inspection in sweetgrass,(fighting off the red horde) then down thru montana,wyoming and South dakota.
dropped the trailer picked up an empty and then off to the Trans x yard in minneapolis.Picked up empty skids there and shot off to st cloud in minnesota to load dead chickens for Canadur.after finding the hole were the chickens were culled its back onto the interstate, crossing at Sarnia and dropping in the company yard in Mississauga.
there are times when you have a layover and 85442 can cool down !!one of them was here were we got a 10 hour break.Then picked up a reefer and headed with an ltl load back to the peg along route 17 which is were i tried the video thung again and posted on the preivios post.
The trip was a good one and got good miles,although we ran hard as they say ; we did off course stop for showers everyday as well as lifes little things,like cawfee and the iron skillet brekkies buffet.

Hi Everybody,
sorry ist been a while since I posted as you may be aware I have been rather busy lately.
I’ve been here 4 weeks now and a lot has happened good and bad, The driving licence
Took a little time and anybody who thinks they can come here,do a weeks driving and then be ready for there test is mistaken.
The test itself works as follows written test,Class 1, 24 questions 4 mistakes allowed, then Airbrake, 20 questions 3 mistakes allowed. These are no great problem and if anyone needs a few tips let me know.
Then you are allowed to drive as a learner. There are a lot of rules here that are wierd to a driver who has been plodding around Europe for 20 yeas or so and these along with pre-trip,airbrake practical,backing take time to achieve.
Lots of people are not aware that whilst in this training phase there are things to be done like getting the car licence changed,medical card,social number,sorting out a place to live getting it furnished, bank accounts etc etc. As all this is happening the money reserves you have are being rapidly reduced...........

At this point I would like to mention Trans X , Everything they promised in Essen has happened, in the short time I have been here Trans X has proved to be a very good company,

Lake Winnipeg drains northward into the Nelson River at an average annual rate of 2,066 cubic metres per second (72,960 cu ft/s), and forms part of the Hudson Bay watershed, which is one of the largest in the world. This watershed area was historically known as Rupert's Land when the Hudson's Bay Company formed in 1670.

Lakes Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Winnipegosis are found at the floor of the prehistoric Glacial Lake Agassiz. The area between Lake Winnipeg and Lakes Winnipegosis and Manitoba is called the Interlake Region, and the whole region is called the Manitoba Lowlands.

As you can see I've not posted for a while, been really busy getting things sorted,had to clear my desk at work, bank things,car Insurance,and a bunch of other crap,at last I'm sorted(i think).
Met up with the h-hog last week and got a sort of plan set up,although there are a shed full of things that he needs to get done.
I'm on holiday now until I arrive in Winnipeg,so its lay back and make the most of the time i got left with Lisa.Ingo is arriving next monday with teh gang so that together with teh goodbye knees up at work a few hangovers are comming on.
I'll get some pics and post before, Air Canada wisks me away.

Ok so how he got in to the slot next to me without denting his and my paintwork is world wonder number 8 how his mate managed to park in front of me without his trailer snogging my radiator is ww nr 9. the next problem is how do I get out???

Here are a few pics of my last trip I'll post it in days as they came.

Monday
picked up a loaded trailer in the yard loaded with 5 liter tin kegs of beer, delivery Aldi near the Danish border.

matey here was going to the same drop and decided to cut over the by roads. (he got there 30 mins after me)

Tipped at that dump only took 4 hours! Then got a text from this

(Patrick our dispatcher)to load 30 euro pal Cranberries in Hamburg for the Lidl distri center in Andolsheim.Loaded up empty pallets and zipped back down the A7 to Hamburg and suprise suprise the load was ready................
Got loaded pretty quick and still had about 6 hours driving time left, so got on the blower to Hedgehog and arranged to meet him at the new truck stop in Karlsruhe.
Patrick then remembers I've still got a bit of room left on the trailer!! 'come to the yard and load 3 pallets to fill the trailer'shit!!got back on the blower and gave Hedgehog the news.
Arrived in Bremen loaded the 3 pallets, had a coffee and chin wag with patrick,turned the key and slipped on to the A1 towards France.Now as some of you may or may not know the A1 from from Bremen to Munster has a no overtaking for trucks restriction from 6am til 20pm daily, as I entered the slip road this Norwegen bod passed me doing about 160 kmh, bloody hell,40 kms later the nobs had him and were taking him apart.

managed to get as far as frankfurt and pulled the curtains here.

The LMOs for Harry and me turned up last week,(after a total cock up by Fed Ex).

Its all offical now, put my notice in and the flight tickets are being sorted in Winnipeg.
Up to now I have not posted were I am going, for which firm I am going to work for or how the move to Canada came about,I didn’t want to count my chickens before they hatched, (excuse the pun) so here goes.

Before I start a few thoughts...............
I can't complain about my life here,I earn average money, got a great family,good friends,(a few not so good friends too),although the ecomomy and the state of things here in Europe are not the best, you can live with it though, so why do I want to drive a truck in Canada ? Lots of reasons really, if I’m honest though the main one is, Because I want To.

To begin with, it was not a real option to go to Canada, there was at the time (and still is) a whack of coverage in the media, about people moving there,the ups and the downs etc, I didn’t at first really take any notice, but the seed had been sown so to say!! One evening I deceided to surf the net and being a nosey sort of bloke I discovered on the Arbeitsamt Homepage ( German Labour exchange), a job offer for long haul drivers, from a company called TransX in Winnipeg. Quick as a flash of went the CV as an Email attachment. Now all I had to do was wait until someone replys ‘just to see what happens’.
A couple of weeks later as I was on my way to work, my mate Harry the Hedgehog rings up on the mobile and starts whinging about the state of affairs here in jolly old Deutschland ,also that there is a job fair coming up in Essen,were companys from Canada, would be recruting people for various jobs.Now as Lisa (my Daughter) had to attend an athletic meeting in Duisburg on the same day, and I already had a day off work,it was a quick side step to arrange a combination of both events.
Big day comes !! of we toddle in the Red Fiesta, collect Harry on the way and zip down the autobahn to Essen.
After fighting our way past hordes (no Joke there were bloody hundreds) of people to gain entry into the job fair we managed to barge our way to Transx and interview their recruiting team.( I had already recieved a mail that they would be at the fair)
As Transx were not the only company recruiting in Essen we had to literaly barge our way through to the other trucking company stands to get any available info etc ,suprisingly It turns out that all off them were interested in us,and all could arrange LMOs, oops ahhh coffee? yup! and a think? Yup ! ok. fighting our way back through the mob again,we managed to grab the application papers from Transx and que up for coffee and a Wurst.
Now as I said Transx were not the only ones recruting there but they were in my opinion the best choice by far.
After gulping down our snacks we shot off down to Duisburg and watched the athletics,(she did very well) shot back again, trooped back to Transx and got down to the nitty gritty.Talked to Dennis, Martin, and ? (sorry forgot your name), did a road test in the early evening(they actually hired a truck and trailer),and then stoked up the little red Rooster car and slipped off home.
After about a week got all the paperwork they required together and posted it off to Winnipeg (thats were they are based), and then the waiting began.

Until Last week.!!!!

as the 1st May is also fathers day and as many of us are long suffering fathers
the need to celebrate this humungus occasion was decided,and I invited myself down-under to Ingos house.
Ingo is not just a very good friend he also suffers from the extreme Thirst/BBQ syndrome,and needed help getting rid of all his beer,schnapps, pork steaks, hamburgers and other things that go bang in the night.
it was a long night but we did it, next day the crate was empty,and I was full.

Thanks must be mentioned to Katrin who put a bucket and a bottle of water
next to my bed, the bucket wasn't needed,but the bottle was empty in the morning.

Got a day off tomorrow as its a bank holiday.In case some of you are not aware, trucks here are not allowed to drive on Sundays and bank holidays, if in the middle of a week a bank holiday crops up (as it normally does) you have to park up from 22.00 on the evening before the holiday starts until 22.00 on the evening of the holiday.can be a pain in the a...e specially if your only a couple of hours away from home.I got home Hee hee ,,, Hedgehog is still munching swiss cheese and has a mega sad on cos his load was postponed due to the bank hols. LOL ,( he took the P... as I had to do the groupage collection and he gota full load.)

Oli our local sheriff here signed the new passport forms for me today so I can get them off in the post on Friday, since 11 sept its a pain to get your passport renewed, photos signed and bits of paper stamped with offical stamps wot a drag, still I can understand why,.Thanks Oli, oh and a likkle reminder to my bro Chris, get the MSN set up you tart.
